Debating An Idea

What is the benefit of a discussion on any given topic is a very important question. Debating an idea is extremely important as an agreement on an idea turns it into a positive energy and unleashes the human potential to an extent which is beyond imagination. For instance, if we first debate and then agree that there is no need to wait for a leader and that the individuals have to take up the job it will let loose the energy pent up in individuals to the extent that it may fashion our future beyond our expectation.

Conversely, if we do not agree on this proposition that we do not need leaders, in this time and age and at this stage of the intellectual maturity of Muslim Ummah, it will mean that we still need to wait for some more time for someone to rise as a leader. Till that time we may not perform to the best of our capacities, quite naturally, and may be waiting for some readymade answers which the leaders will provide whenever they arrive.

How a consensus on an idea turns into a positive energy is clear from the Aligarh Movement. There was no consensus on the need of modern education for Muslims. Once there developed a sort of consensus on this matter we can see an upsurge of energy in pursuing the modern education. The same energy will be unleashed if there develops a consensus on any point of discussion if we take it to the logical conclusions.
