Poor Performance And Self-doubt

This issue has come to our notice with regards to Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi, and award of degrees and medals to Muslim students. I have two thoughts to share on this point. The overall culprit of dismal performance and a general lack of excellence is the deep rooted self-doubt engendered by the serious (and unjustified) division of knowledge – deenee and dunyaawee - as has been argued earlier.

What has possibly contributed to the above factor is the inroad that the Tableeghee Jamaa‘at has made inside our Campuses. Many among us might have seen that some of our students, irrespective of their field of study, get greatly attracted towards the Jamaa‘at. The kind of discourse they mostly listen to further strengthens the self-doubt.

I am not sure if the performance of those students who more actively participate in the Tableeghee Ijtimaa‘aat is particularly poor. It will be a good point of research, though. Some data could be collected in this regard. I may be utterly wrong in my observation / assumption.
