TRUTH: Simply Complicated And Easily Difficult
We often assume that truth is something very complicated and beyond the comprehension of an ordinary human being. I suspect it – if we are really talking about the truth. Yes, the process of getting it is not easy. But once it has been reached its exposition may not be that difficult and complicated. Yes, finding gold and diamond is not easy. But once the same has been found it may not be very difficult to recognize it.
Truth is not difficult. It is not complicated. What is difficult and complicated is altering the schema. What is not easy is the de-conditioning of mind from age-old preconceived notions. But then this is where ‘education’ comes. Hence, the expectations from the educated are different from the expectations from the not-so-well educated and the less fortunate ones. The problem arises when the true education is missing and we mix it up with the recall ability and gathering of information.
What is difficult is what Sarmad found difficult and hence desisted from pronouncing illAllah and declared only laa ilaah. When asked by his disciple to pronounce the other half to save himself from the gallows he said that he wasn’t ready to tell a lie. As he still had many ‘gods’. We, too, have our ‘gods’ of desires, ego, vanity, arrogance and prejudices which serve as a barrier between us and the truth.
There is no barrier in reaching towards truth, otherwise. We ourselves are the barrier. We need to remove ourselves from our own path.
