Aligarh Movement: A Prototype

Do the Indian Muslims have anything to offer to the Muslim Ummah as a whole? I feel they do. They have Aligarh Movement which can work as a prototype of what we actually need. The sooner it is realized the better. The kind of soul-searching that is going on in our ranks is a very good omen and bodes well.

The balanced, healthy and all-encompassing approach which the Aligarh Movement symbolizes and which is very well expressed in its vision is the need of the hour. Before, however, we take it any further we need to see if we are living according to the spirit of this Movement and analyze the situation a bit more as advised by some of our senior members.

The Aligarh Movement has a potentiality of doing away with the duality of knowledge and bringing about a confluence leading to excellence – paving the way for regaining the glorious position.
