DIRECTIONLESSNESS
It is a very harsh word. I know this. But it is a harsher reality. Please allow me to ask what is our goal as Muslims in this world? In two sentences. What do we want to achieve on the surface of the earth? Isn’t it a question worth asking? I will be happy to get the feedback of our friends on the Forums. It seems to me that we do not have a collective goal. We do not know what we are supposed to perform. This is what directionlessness is all about. This is why our energies are dissipated. This is why we discuss about thousand and one things but do not try to trace the common thread. After sometimes when I will gather more courage I will suggest that those among us who are on the modern side of the education are as much rambling as are the traditionally educated. May be a little bit less.
When it comes to scientific and rational approach we are not that far ahead from our counterparts as we are expected to be. Scientific and rational are the key words to our success. A scientific and rational approach demands us to determine the destination before we take even the first step. If we, however, do not determine where we ultimately want to reach the newer generations will be even more lost.
Let us not assume that we will give it a thought when the situations will be better. The situations will never be perfect. We will have one challenge after the other. This is our career on earth. “Verily We have created man into toil and struggle.” (al-Balad, 90: 4) We cannot run away from this toil. We cannot runaway from this struggle.
