“Please Avoid Religious Discussions”

I always wonder what we mean when we say, “Please avoid religious discussions”. I don’t know how and why we have separated spiritual from the material and have divided deen from dunyaa! The above sentence, however, is only a symptom and not the disease.

I would most humbly request the respected members of our Forums for listing some of the matters which are ‘secular’ and a few more which are ‘religious’. This may help us further in our future discussions. This we should do before we deeply realize that they all are one and the same – depending on our outlook (niyyah).

Uttering of the above sentence, however, has the same reasons as do the “scattered shoes”. It indicates that there are huge gaps in our thoughts. It means we have not arrived at a consensus that the purpose of education is to develop a coherent body of ideas – apart from creatively reaching out to the unknown. (This I intend to repeat a thousand times.) Hence, we contradict ourselves – on a daily basis.

There are all indications that we will still continue doing the same, unfortunately. If the educated and most blessed among us will not pay heed to it who will?!
