Undoing Each Other

Next morning when we (some of us) go to a college let us spare a few seconds to visualize that as we are going to a college now there is a big number of students and teachers who are going to a madrasah at the same time around the whole country. Let us realize that we are not just going to two different types of educational institutions. We are actually going to counter each others’ efforts one more day as we did yesterday and the day before. We both are not walking towards a destination. We are, in fact, moving in opposite directions. We are denying each other. We are going to undo each others’ work. And we don’t even know it!

If we visualize it today we will be able to visualize our tomorrow. The division of knowledge did not exist in our earlier history. The lack of ijtihaad has rendered us in this pitiable condition. We owe a lot to humanity – in terms of contribution to the total fund of knowledge and experiences. We cannot do so as long as we will be undoing each other. This we never did. This we should never do.
