First Prohibited Then Indispensable
It is a strange phenomenon. What was impermissible at one point of time becomes an essential part of life – after a while. The ‘cruder forms’ were prohibited. The more sophisticated ones are indispensable. The examples are plenty. We, however, don’t give much thought to this self-contradiction.
Many among the scholars (‘ulama) send their children for ‘modern education’ and do not see any self-contradiction in words and deeds. We, too, do not notice the anomaly – mostly. We will persist in this state of self-contradiction and will be countering our own efforts – every moment – unless we integrate the critical and scientific thinking in our entire education system.
Awaken us our Lord! We need a different kind of resurrection before the Day of Resurrection!!
