Requiring A Rebirth

It often occurs to me that what we need is not some changes here and there. What we require is a rebirth – a renaissance (an-nash’ah ath-thaaniyah). It is not something new, in fact. Many of us realize it. What we haven’t realized and debated enough is what it necessitates in terms of price and pain.

We need a sea change - a total transformation. All the aspects of our social life need a deep analysis with an intention to finding out the causes of problems. We will require going deeper than the symptoms. If we were to prescribe the right kind of remedies.

But then this is exactly what turning the searchlight inward is. This is where we have to read many times over what we are writing before we press the “send” key. Because a small issue can very easily take us farther away from our ultimate goals. This is the power of words. This is the effect of ideas.
