TAHREER

Wanted to share the meaning of TAHREER. In Arabic it literally means ‘liberating’. It also implies writing, as in Urdu. Hence, the Chief Editor is Ra’ees at-Tahreer. Till here it is not of much interest. What is of interest is to see the link between the two meanings.

A piece of writing could be called a tahreer in the real sense of the word only if it liberates – in other words de-conditions. It should alter the schema to whatever extent possible. Only then it is TAHREER. Only then it serves the purpose.
